filmawi was born in eritrea but went to college in east london and he’s obsessed with space and wants to be an astronaut but that’s tricky if you don’t know how to fly so he started shooting stills with his mum’s old kodak and fell in love with all things film so he worked as an art director at amv bbdo and made films and ads and stills that blew up and went freelance as a photographer and shot for comme des garcon and ysl and burberry and hennessy and all the cool kids and he started directing and shot amazing music videos and then the sports fashion thing went huge and he shot beautiful ads for adidas and he’s shooting a book of stills with 100 of the world’s most famous people which keeps him on his toes and even though he’s allergic to gin which isn’t very rock’n' roll he’s charming and cool and immensely talented and that’s exactly why he had to be a knucklehead
